Tests
Theory Test must be passed before a driving test can be applied for. Theory Tests can be taken in Northern Ireland at the following locations: Belfast; Ballymena; Londonderry; Newry; Omagh and Portadown. Tests taken in other parts of the U.K. are acceptable in Northern Ireland and vice versa.
The current price of a Theory Test is £28.50 and a test can be booked by telephoning 0845 600 6700 making sure you have your driver number and a debit or credit card to hand.

Test times are: Mon - Fri 08.50; 09.50; 11.05; 12.05; 1.50; 2.50; 3.50. At some test centres evening and weekend tests are available at extra cost.

Please note that in Northern Ireland an Emergency Stop is mandatory on all driving tests
Lessons
The number of lessons required to pass the practical driving test will depend on the ability of the individual, according to government statistics this can be anything up to 45 hours.
At Confidence School Of Motoring the average number of lessons up to test is considerably less than this but we would assure you that we do not take short cuts. With peoples lives at stake, we teach "safe driving for life".

- Understanding and reaction to - Signal signs and road markings
- Crossroads and roundabouts
- Interacting with other vehicles
- Manoeuvres (turning, parking, reversing)
- Pedestrian crossings and use of signals
- Correct use of speed including dual carriageway
- Emergency stops and use of mirrors
